Wet & Dry PCS Cutting Tables
The Best Range of High Definition Plasma Cutting Technology
PCS CUTTING TABLES
Wet or Dry?
PCS offer a range of wet and dry cutting tables. Since the advent of High Definition plasma cutting technology, dry cutting tables have gained popularity as opposed to wet tables which were once the golden standard for plasma cutting. But are they worth the extra $$$… To help you make your decision, we have outlined some advantages and disadvantages of each table design.
DRY CUTTING TABLES:
Pros
- Best cutting quality
- Generally less mess
- Always dry working surface
- No chemicals
- Less rust on parts
- Easier to locate parts that drop into table
- Slag easier to dispose of
CONS
- Initial cost of Fume Extraction System
- Running cost of Fume Extraction System
- Maintenance (See note#1)
- Stock and replacement of filters
- Fan noise
- Plasma noise
Note#1 – This mostly applies to self-cleaning tables which are a high maintenance item. They also have difficulty supporting high table loads for when large drilling systems are used.
PCS offer 2 types of DRY table designs
1) PCS STANDARD DRY
2) PCS HEAVY DUTY DRY
The HEAVY DUTY DRY is recommended for heavy drilling applications as it has extra supports connecting the slat trays directly to the concrete floor, thereby minimising table vibrations. Contact PCS today to discuss your cutting table requirement.
PCS DRY cutting tables are electronically ZONED for maximum fume extraction efficiency. Individual zones are opened according to the machines X/Y co-ordinates – No need for mechanical strikers and lever type door actuation!

PCS STANDARD DRY table with centre ducts for extra wide cutting applications
PCS have developed an App that allows the machine operator to customise the zoned fume extraction doors. Zones can be ‘overlapped’ and off delays can be input via the CNC controller.

WET CUTTING TABLES:
Pros
- Low initial cost
- Less operating costs
- Less maintenance
- Best drilling performance
- High efficiency fume removal
- Reduces heat distortion in parts
- Improves torch cooling
- Less slag build up on cutting slats
- Increases life of cutting slats
CONS
- Cut Quality (Approx. 5% less than dry)
- Wet and often slippery plate surface
- Messier environment
- Rust on parts
- Part drop outs can be difficult to recover
- Explosive hazard if cutting Aluminium
PCS offer 3 types of WET table designs;
- PCS STANDARD WET (Static)
- PCS STANDARD WET (Raise/Lower)
- PCS HEAVY DUTY WET (Raise/Lower)
The HEAVY DUTY WET is recommended for heavy drilling applications as it has extra supports connecting the slat trays directly to the concrete floor, thereby minimising table vibrations. Contact PCS today to discuss your cutting table requirement.
